Superheroes have always been popular among us. In the DC Comics Extended Universe, there are countless superhero characters with rich powers and abilities but only a select few have had the honour of making it to the movies. Their superpowers make them unique and make them favorites in terms of how they use their powers to fight evil.
Currently, there are several films in the DC Extended Universe that we have enough superheroes to effectively rank them by how powerful they all are! Of all the most powerful beings and entities in DC Universe, who reigns supreme and who will fall short?
In this list, we will show the ten most powerful superheroes that have been featured in DC movies.
10. Batman
Batman is the odd man out in the DCEU’s current Justice League roster. He’s the only one who has no superhuman powers. However, Batman does have a seemingly limitless supply of money, which counts for a whole lot. Batman has all manner of advanced gadgets and computer tech to aid him in his war on crime. Besides, Batman is a master of strategy and planning ahead. His greatest ally is his intelligence which he uses when incorporating the specialized weapons he created for the fight. As well as the specially made armoured suit he makes for the fight, he also has a variety of Kryptonite grenades and bullets.
9. Flash
Meta-humans who gained their abilities from the dark matter explosion in Central City often have powers influenced by unusual conditions at the time of exposure: Barry Allen was struck by lightning and gained access to the Speed Force, giving off electricity when he runs at superhuman speeds. By tapping into the Speed Force, he can run at supersonic speeds, defeating criminals in the blink of an eye. In the right circumstances, Flash can run so fast he breaches the fabric of reality and travels through time. Flash’s speed is great for protecting civilians, but its uses are more limited in the heat of battle. It simply just doesn’t end there. The Flash also has the ability to think and act faster than the speed of light. Not only that but he can phase through walls and other matter, and read and acquire knowledge at a hyper extended rate. Although very capable of being one of the most powerful heroes in the DCEU, he is very inexperienced. He hasn’t reached the full extent of his powers yet so he can only get more powerful with experience and time.
8. Cyborg
Vic Stone was just an up-and-coming football star. But after a near-fatal explosion and a bonding experience with an Apokoliptian Mother Box, Vic has evolved into an advanced cybernetic life-form. He can hack pretty much any device or network in existence, making him the ultimate form of tech support. Cyborg is more a critical supporting player. He has enhanced strength and the ability to reshape his body and form weapons, but he’s not going to be winning an arm-wrestling match with Superman anytime soon. In addition, his appearance in Justice League suggests to us that he has not yet reached the peak of his power quite yet and he is still developing more abilities as the film goes. Not only these, but throughout the film, he continues to evolve and gain new abilities which also shows us that he is quite new to his role as the Justice League member.
7. Shazam
Arguably, one of the only superheroes who can be compared to Superman is Shazam of the DC universe. Shazam is one of the more well-rounded DCEU heroes we’ve seen so far. He has massive strength, flight, invulnerability and can generate lightning bolts. His powers include superhero durability andstrength along with divine empowerment, transformation, electrokinesis, magic, flight, and even immortality while in his transformed state. He can use power distribution too, allowing him to share his magical powers with anyone in his family that he so chooses. He even has the strength to go against god like entities such as Hercules. However, being a teenager in an adult’s body, Shazam has a tendency to become overconfident, so why he had such trouble taking on the more experienced and motivated Doctor Sivana.
6. Mera
Y’Mera “Mera” Xebella Challa is an Atlantean warrior, the princess of Xebel and an ally of Arthur Curry. Mera’s Atlantean heritage has granted her various superhuman feats; such as superhuman strength, durability, speed, agility, reflexes, senses, leaping, etc., making him an extremely powerful superhuman; especially when Mera is exposed to water. Mera is an extremely skilled hand-to-hand combatant; regardless if she is on the land or in the water. However, in her brief battle against Steppenwolf where she tries to keep him from obtaining the Mother Box guarded by Atlantis, she shows off her superpower — the ability to transform water into a weapon by solidifying it, which she can use to make shields or blades. That makes her a very formidable foe.
5. Aquaman
The King of Atlantis is definitely one of the most powerful beings in the DC universe. His human hybrid physiology allows him to breathe underwater and travel to the deepest depths of the ocean, which has the added benefit of granting him almost Superman-level strength. He can also telepathically command marine life, that power only comes in handy when he’s near the water. He has superhuman strength, the ability to swim at super speed and an ability to communicate, in a fashion, with sea life. If anything, Aquaman has only become stronger since his DCEU debut, as he now wields the mystical trident and armor of King Atlan. During the final battle, he was also able to severely knock back Steppenwolf by hitting him with his trident which, considering how powerful Steppenwolf really is, is very impressive since the League had to bring back Superman in order to beat him.
4. Wonder Woman
Diana the Amazon Princess, better known as Wonder Woman, is unique because she was sculpted from clay by mother Queen Hippolyta and given life by Aphrodite. She was also given superhuman powers as gifts by the Greek gods. The Amazons are a strong, fearsome band of warriors, but Princess Diana is a cut above the rest.Wonder Woman’s powers include super strength, invulnerability, flight, combat skill, combat strategy, superhuman agility, healing, and magic weaponry. She also has the wisdom of the goddess Athena, along with 7 powerful pieces of equipment that enhance her abilities further. Most notable is her Lasso of Truth and Bracelets of Submission. Thus making her a force to be reckoned with. Justice League made it clear that even Wonder Woman isn’t strong enough to take on Superman in a one-on-one fight. Still, she held her own better than any other team member.
3. Green Lantern
Hal Jordan is a very powerful hero. Since being equipped with the Green Power Ring, it’s hard to think of what this hero cannot do. The ring allows him to create literally anything that comes to mind, whether that’s a force field or something ridiculous like a giant toy car on a race track. The ring’s power depends on how strong the willpower of the Green Lantern is so obviously at the start he isn’t too powerful; however, as time goes on he puts in a lot of practise and he manages to control his willpower which allows him to exploit how strong the Power Ring really is. Furthermore, he was able to withstand the gravitational pull of the sun and the serious heat that it emits. His role in the Lantern Corps means that he’s a protector both on Earth and in space. By the end, he eventually becomes one of the strongest members of the Green Lantern Corps and this is shown very well in his final battle scene with Parallax.
2. Superman
Superman can scan everything around him for criminals, people to rescue, and anything else, with just a turn of his head. He basically can become a human vacuum or create hurricane-force winds at will which basically means he can knock over heavy objects with one blow of breath. He can also suck in his breath and hold it for a long time allowing him travel underwater or to outer space for long hours. There’s no forgetting his heat vision which he can shoot out of his eyes. And it’s not that he shoots the beams out without any control. He can control the width and intensity and can melt metal and rock. He can also pick up and move enormous objects while flying. Moreover, Superman’s body can take on extreme impacts, high temperatures, and even explosions without even a scratch. His powers have not changed over time, with the man behind the mask featuring no enhanced abilities. However, Kryptonite is a radioactive xenomineral created by the World Engine, it can weaken or even kill Superman if he is exposed to it for a prolonged period of time or if he is impaled with a shard of it.
1. Doctor Manhattan
Dr. Jonathan Osterman disintegrated in an Intrinsic Field Subtractor and reappeared as Dr. Manhattan. He got his powers in a scientific accident at the Gila Flats Test Base in Arizona, which was studying the “intrinsic field” of matter. As a physicist, not only is one of the most powerful heroes in the world but he’s also one of the smartest. Dr. Manhattan abilities consist of having complete awareness and control over basic atomic particles, he’s seemingly invincible and immortal, he can alter the size of his body as well as alter his density and color to whatever he wants. He’s also a telekinetic and has the ability to teleport himself to where ever he chooses. And he’s so powerful he could annihilate entire worlds if he wanted to. He can also see the past, present, and future simultaneously which allows him to know what will happen before anyone else will which gives him a huge advantage to stop things before they go down. There is also a theory that the universe he creates turns out to be the current DC universe which isn’t that crazy to think about since The Watchmen are based in an alternate universe.
