Spending her youth on “Game of Thrones”
In “Game of Thrones” series, Sansa Stark was one of the key faces, with a psychological change and a charismatic personality after each movie season. In season 1, she was a wealthy young lady who was arrogant and dreamy. But since the family was in trouble and she was being held hostage by the enemy and brutally abused by her crush, Sansa gradually became tough, strong, and manipulative.
In the following seasons, villains often took advantage of Sansa. But in the last season, she escaped and rose strongly then punished all the perpetrators that caused suffering for herself and her beloved ones.
HBO selected Sophie Turner for the role of Sansa in August 2009. Sophie began her first shooting the following year when she was only 14 years old. At this period, she had absolutely no experience in professional acting. In fact, Sophie had only accumulated knowledge from drama lessons at school and extracurricular. She auditioned for Sansa thanks to the encouragement of a drama teacher.
However, her life had a big turning point when “Game of Thrones” was released in Season 1 and caused an extreme hit in 2011. At the age of 15, she took the first step on the way to conquer the audience all over the world.
It was not easy for Sophie to play a large-scale and well-invested series like “Game of Thrones” in her early teens. She had to film and study at the same time. Sophie even had a tutor teaching her at the filming studio.
Sophie’s original blonde hair was also requested by the producer to be dyed red, which coincided with Sansa’s hair color. Most especially, Sophie Turner revealed that the series had many “adult” scenes which made her for the first time learn a lot of concepts on the bed. “Basically, I had experienced my teenage years in the studio Game of Thrones”, the actress born in 1996 shared.
“Dark Phoenix taught me how to fight for myself”
After gaining fame thanks to “Game of Thrones”, Sophie Turner began taking on new roles in a number of television projects, indie films, and dubbed cartoons. But it was not until 2015 that she was charmed with the next breakthrough role, X-Men Jean Gray in the blockbuster X-Men series of 20th-Century Fox.
In the original comic book, this was the female superhero who had the ability to telepathically and move objects with thoughts. This was also an important member of the X-Men group. Before Sophie Turner, the character Jean Gray made an impressive public debut in the first three parts of the X-Men series, played by Dutch actress Famke Janssen.
To get the role of young Jean Gray, Sophie Turner had to overcome many talented competitors including most notably Saoirse Ronan who used to gain an Oscar nomination. Sophie first pitched as Jean Gray for the first time in the blockbuster “X-Men: Apocalypse” released in 2016. Although the movie received mixed reviews on the content, the moment Jean Gray unleashed powerful power was considered one of the brightest points of this blockbuster.
And in summer 2019, Sophie Turner returned as Jean Gray. She played a central role in the latest installment of the X-Men series called “Dark Phoenix”. The story revolved around Jean Gray being taken over by a powerful cosmic creature. Jean became aggressive, out of control, and threatened the safety of not only the X-Men but also humanity.
Despite being delayed many times, and receiving mixed feedbacks when promoting, the movie got compliments thanks to the attractive script and good soundtrack.
Her happy real-life with Joe Jonas
Not only participating in popular dramas and movies, but Sophie Turner also made her own mark outside of acting. Thanks to her height and good-looking body, she became the face of many fashion brands such as Karen Millen and Louis Vuitton.
At the end of 2016, Sophie continued attracting the attention of young people when dating Joe Jonas, a member of the boy band Jonas Brothers, who was the dream of countless girls in the 2000s.
Sophie Turner proved herself to be the longest-lasting person with this womanizer singer. Eventually, in 2017, the two claimed to be engaged in numerous congratulations from fans. Sophie also appeared in the Jonas Brothers’ comeback music video “Sucker”, reaching No.1 in the US for a period of time.
