Talking about a villain star, anti-hero, colorful and has many irreplaceable imprints on the big screen Hollywood, one has to mention Tom Hardy. Let’s take a look at the times when Tom Hardy plays a bad guy.
1. Bronson (2008)
Although this crime drama is not a big and well-received cinematic work, it offers one of the most impressive roles in Tom Hardy’s career.
In the film, he plays Michael “Mickey” Bronson, aka Charles Bronson, a notoriously violent British criminal who was sentenced to seven years in prison for armed robbery. Not only increased nearly 20 kg of muscle and shaved head to transform into the role, but Tom also conquered the audience with his great acting ability.
2. Inception (2010)
After winning the hearts of the audience through Bronson, the role in Inception continues to bring Tom Hardy closer to fans. The science fiction film – thriller by talented director Christopher Nolan is the first blockbuster that Hardy participated.
He and his colleagues Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page incarnate into a group of thieves with a unique method: breaking into and “molding” the dreams of others. The film was popular with both the public and critics, and won him the Rising Star Award at the 64th BAFTA Awards.
3. The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
In the final movie of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, Tom Hardy plays Bane – one of Batman’s most formidable enemies. Despite being pressured by the too large shadow of Joker (Heath Ledger) and always wearing a large mask covering his face, the actor still shows the true quality of a memorable villain on the screen through his talking gaze, his deep voice, and body language.
To play Bane, he must also continue to shave his head and undergo training to get the appearance that best suits the character.
4. Peaky Blinders (2013-present)
Released in 2013, Peaky Blinders is a BBC-produced television series about the crime family Peaky Blinders in Birmingham. Peaky Blinders provides a direct insight into the criminal social life where they are willing to kill, beat out dissidents, find tricks for theft and a perverted depraved lifestyle. In this series, Tom Hardy plays Alfred “Alfie” Solomons, the leader of a Jewish gang in Camden Town, starting from season 2.
5. Legend (2015)
Tom Hardy is really a versatile actor and not afraid of challenges to the two roles as the Kray gangsters in the criminal film Legend. Despite being twins, Ronnie Kray and Reggie Kray are completely opposite personalities. The excellent performance of the star of the fog has characterized the differences between the two characters.
6. The Revenant (2015)
Despite being “shadowed” by Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy also left a mark in the film directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu when playing the villain John Fitzgerald. This role also earned Tom Hardy the first Oscar nomination of his career. Although not winning, but this achievement is still an important milestone in his career.
7. Venom (2018)
Venom’s biggest highlight is the impressive performance of actor Tom Hardy in the main role of Eddie Brock, along with a new friend full of annoying but interesting.
Venom, despite receiving mixed reviews from experts, ended up winning the box office. Adapted from Marvel comics, directed by Ruben Fleischer, the film has grossed an impressive $ 885 million worldwide.
8. Venom 2 (2020)
In a recent interview, Amy Pascal admitted that she couldn’t say anything about Venom 2 besides confirming Tom Hardy’s participation. She said: “I’m sure Tom Hardy will come back and play a role that no one else can.”
